Review of Debbie Rocker's "A.M. and P.M Walking" DVD, Part 1

Today I am reviewing part of Debbie Rocker's "A.M. and P.M. Walking" DVD. (affiliate link).

This review will cover the A.M. portion of the walk. I had fallen asleep much too early the night before, so found myself awake much too early. After trying to get back to sleep for a little while, I decided to get some walking in, and put in this DVD. I ended up doing both portions, but I'll just talk about the A.M. part today.

I would say this workout is very appropriate for the A.M. It's quite calm and not very challenging for the first 20 minutes. It's very low impact. I was surprised after having done Debbie's "Walking for Weight Loss" the day before. This is much less challenging than that workout.

My less favorite qualities of the workout are as follows. I am minorly annoyed by the lack of mirroring that Debbie does with her cues. It seems like most of the modern workouts tell you something like, "Start on the right foot!" and they actually start on the left foot so that you are a mirror image of the TV screen. Well, Debbie doesn't do this and it throws me off. Not enough to hate the DVD, but enough to be annoyed by it. The other thing I don't like is her talk about "energy". "Feel the energy!" I don't feel like it was a "Feel the burn!" type statement, but more of a New Age type of approach. That's not the way I approach life, and it's definitely not the way I approach exercise.

I'll be back later with my review of the P.M. portion of the DVD.
